Stamp Duty & Registration Calculator
Enter your property value and location to see the exact government charges you'll pay at registration — stamp duty, registration fee, and any state-specific surcharges.
How this calculator works
What it calculates
Stamp duty is a state government tax on the property sale document; registration fee is a separate charge for officially recording your ownership. Together they typically add 5–11% on top of your property's price, depending on the state.
What you need
Your property's agreement value (or expected purchase price), the state and — for some states — the city classification, area type, or ownership gender, since these directly change the applicable rate.
Important assumption
This calculator assumes your entered value is at or above the government guideline/circle rate for the property's locality. Stamp duty is legally charged on whichever is higher, so if your locality's guideline value is higher than what you enter, your actual charge will be higher too.
Do stamp duty rates differ for men and women?
In Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, yes — women buyers get a reduced rate in some or all cases. Karnataka and Telangana apply the same rate to all buyers regardless of gender.
Is this the exact amount I'll pay?
It's a close estimate based on published rates. Local cesses, mid-year guideline value revisions, or property-specific exemptions can shift the final number slightly — always confirm with your Sub-Registrar office before transacting.
